Who am I?

I’m an independent freelance photography writer and editor with 30 years experience working for the UK’s largest specialist publishers, both online and in print.

What do I do?

I cover all aspects of photography including cameras, shooting techniques, lenses and accessories, and for everyone from smartphone users through enthusiasts to professional photographers.

Who have I worked for?

As well as full time freelancing I have worked as Head of Testing for Future plc’s photography magazines, camera channel editor on TechRadar, Editor and Technique Editor on N-Photo. I write for TechRadar, Amateur Photographer, Professional Photographer, PhotoPlus, N-Photo and many other photography and technology websites and newsstand magazines.

What do I write?

News stories (with photography), reviews, technical explainers, how-tos, shooting guides, lead features, list articles, head-to-head comparisons and more.

Do I take pictures?

I take a lot of pictures to accompany reviews, illustrate techniques and for my own interest. I also specialise in environmental photography of products being launched and being used by photographers in the field.

What about video?

I’m not a professional videographer but I do have experience in scripting and presenting. I also shoot video with a smartphone rig, DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, action and 360 cameras.

Am I available?

I’m always available to discuss new projects and ideas. Please contact me by email in the first instance with some information about what you need.

Is this just a business site?

It is designed show what I do for a living, but if you just want to catch up on the latest photography news and views you’re more than welcome to look around.

Information for editors

I am available for editorial commissions of all types, from press launches and quick turnaround news stories to full scale lead features and short term or fixed contract editing jobs.
